Coming to DVD tomorrow, Tuesday, October 15: LET THEM WEAR TOWELS

Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg’s look at sexism in sports journalism made its world premiere at Tribeca this year. The film was commissioned by ESPN for its women-directed, women in sports doc series, Nine for IX, an offshoot of the network’s popular 30 for 30 doc brand. After its broadcast this Summer, the doc comes to DVD in a boxed set with the other initial Nine for IX films.

Coming to DVD next Tuesday, October 15: THE MARCH

John Akomfrah’s chronicle of 1963’s March on Washington premiered on PBS this Summer, during the 50th anniversary of the historic civil rights action.

Coming to theatres and VOD tomorrow, Friday, October 11: BROADWAY IDIOT

Doug Hamilton’s look at the transformation of Green Day’s music into a Broadway show had its world premiere at SXSW earlier this year. Other screenings have included Newport Beach, Lincoln Center’s Sound + Vision, London, and the CBGB Film Festival. Simultaneous with its theatrical release through Abramorama, FilmBuff releases the film on VOD via iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Cable Movies On Demand, Google Play, Xbox, Sony Playstation, CinemaNow and Vudu.

Coming to theatres this Friday, October 11: THE INSTITUTE

Spencer McCall’s intriguing look at a labyrinthine citywide game had its world premiere at Slamdance this year. It’s gone on to screen at True/False, Arclight Doc, Atlanta, St Louis, Wisconsin, and San Francisco Doc.

Now available on VOD: HERMAN’S HOUSE

Angad Singh Bhalla’s exploration of the relationship between and artist and a prisoner held in solitary confinement debuted at True/False last year. It went on to Full Frame, Hot Docs, Camden, Hamptons, Antenna, New Orleans, RIDM, and SF Doc, among others. Just days after his release from prison after 41 years, the film’s subject, Herman Wallace, passed away last Friday morning.
