Coming to PBS’s American Experience and to DVD tomorrow, Tuesday, April 28: LAST DAYS IN VIETNAM

Rory Kennedy’s chronicle of the US withdrawal from Saigon had its world premiere at Sundance last year. It went on to screen at Nantucket, DOC NYC, Sarasota, deadCENTER, Los Angeles, Martha’s Vineyard, and Ashland, among others, and was shortlisted for the Best Documentary Oscar.

Coming to theatres tonight, Friday, April 24: MISERY LOVES COMEDY

Kevin Pollak’s exploration of the process behind stand-up comedy had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year. The film just screened at Tribeca after being released on VOD earlier this month.

Coming to theatres tomorrow, Friday, April 24: KURT COBAIN: MONTAGE OF HECK

Brett Morgen’s reflection on the iconic Nirvana frontman made its bow at Sundance earlier this year. It has gone on to screen at Berlin, Miami, Dublin, and Full Frame, among other events. It will screen at the upcoming Hot Docs, and come to HBO next month.

Coming to VOD today, Tuesday, April 14: MISERY LOVES COMEDY

Kevin Pollak’s survey of the work behind stand-up comedy debuted at Sundance this year. It will also screen at Tribeca next week. The doc comes to iTunes now, followed by a limited theatrical engagement later this month.

Coming to DVD tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7: HAPPY VALLEY

Amir Bar-Lev’s examination of the Penn State scandal’s impact on the local community made its debut at Sundance last year. Its festival circuit included Nantucket, DOC NYC, Hamptons, Camden, Traverse City, BAMcinemaFest, Philadelphia, Sarasota, True/False, and Nashville, among others.

Coming to theatres this Friday, April 3: LAMBERT AND STAMP

James D Cooper’s profile of the men behind The Who debuted at Sundance last year. It went on to screen at Sundance London, Sarasota, Belfast, Knoxville, Whistler, and Chattanooga, among others.

Coming to DVD tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31: HOOP DREAMS

Steve James’ classic exploration of the athletic aspirations of two young men debuted at Sundance in 1994, taking home the Audience Award for Best Documentary. It went on to screen at Toronto and the New York Film Festival. Though it was not recognized by the Academy, it won critical and audience acclaim and remains one of the seminal works of nonfiction of the past 25 years. Recently restored for its 20th anniversary, it now is re-released on home video formats.

Coming to HBO this Sunday, March 29: GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF

Alex Gibney’s unearthing of the secrets of the contentious organization had its world premiere at Sundance this year. It has also screened at True/False, Big Sky, and Martha’s Vineyard, and has been released theatrically.

Coming to Showtime tomorrow, Friday, March 27: DREAMCATCHER

Kim Longinotto’s candid look at a woman’s mission to help others out of exploitation had its world premiere at Sundance this year, winning the World Cinema Documentary Directing Award. It has gone on to screen at Rotterdam, Glasgow, ZagrebDox, Thessaloniki, and One World.

Coming to theatres today, Friday, March 13: DREAMCATCHER

Kim Longinotto’s intimate look at a woman on a mission debuted at Sundance earlier this year, where it picked up the World Cinema Documentary Directing Award. Other fest engagements have included Rotterdam, Glasgow, ZagrebDox, and the upcoming Thessaloniki and One World.
