Lise Birk Pederson’s eye-opening exploration of the ideological indoctrination of Russian youth debuted at IDFA in 2011. It made its North American premiere in 2012 at Sundance, winning a documentary jury prize for cinematography, before moving on to additional fests including Full Frame, Seattle, Athena, One World, Human Rights Watch, and Hong Kong. Sundance Artist Services now makes the film available via iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Microsoft Xbox, Sony Entertainment Network, SundanceNOW, VUDU, and YouTube, among others.

Rachel Leah Jones’ portrait of her absent father made its debut at Israel’s Cinema South in 2011. It came stateside in 2012 at Sundance, with additional festival engagements at Jerusalem, True/False, Visions du Reel, DMZ Docs, Taiwan Doc, DOC NYC, BAFICI, SF Jewish, and Documentary Edge, among others. Sundance Artist Services now makes the film available via YouTube, Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, SundanceNow, Hulu, Vudu, SnagFilms, Xbox, and Playstation.

Lana Wilson and Martha Shane’s intimate portrait of late-term abortion providers made its world premiere earlier this year at Sundance. Its extensive fest circuit has included Hot Docs, Seattle, San Francisco, Sheffield, True/False, AFI Docs, Sarasota, and Full Frame, picking up awards at the latter two.

Alex Gibney’s investigation into the controversial site had its world premiere earlier this year at Sundance. Its fest circuit included Sydney, Seattle, and Edinburgh before a limited theatrical and VOD release this Summer.

On DVD: CHASING ICE

Coming to DVD tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10: CHASING ICE

Jeff Orlowski’s look at one man’s mission to document climate change had its world premiere at Sundance last year, taking home the best doc cinematography award. The film went on to screen at SXSW, Full Frame, Big Sky, Boulder, and RiverRun, among other fests, and to enjoy a limited theatrical release.

99%Coming to NYC’s Rooftop Films tonight, Wednesday, September 4 and to theatres this Friday, September 6: 99% – THE OCCUPY WALL STREET COLLABORATIVE FILM

Audrey Ewell, Aaron Aites, Lucian Read, and Nina Krstic’s comprehensive overview of the Occupy movement made its debut in competition at Sundance at the beginning of the year. Since then it has screened at Cleveland, IFF Boston, Human Rights Watch, and Melbourne, among others.

Coming to PBS’s POV this Monday, August 26: 5 BROKEN CAMERAS

Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi’s personal and visceral experience of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict debuted at IDFA in 2011, where it won two awards. It came stateside at Sundance last year, picking up the World Cinema Documentary Directing Award. The doc’s fest circuit included New Directors/New Films, Thessaloniki Documentary, Traverse City, Human Rights Watch, Vancouver, Dharamshala, and Hot Docs, among others. It was one of the five nominees for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar this year.

Coming to PBS’ POV next Monday, August 19: THE LAW IN THESE PARTS

Ra’Anan Alexandrowicz’s examination of Israeli military law in the occupied territories made its debut at Jerusalem in 2011, where it won best documentary. It repeated the win for its stateside bow made at Sundance, claiming the documentary world cinema grand jury prize. Its festival circuit also included Hot Docs, Full Frame, Human Rights Watch, and several Jewish film festivals, including Boston, San Francisco, and Atlanta, among others.
