The series opens with Theo Anthony’s RAT FILM, an exploration of race and class in Baltimore as revealed through the city’s battles with vermin. Other North American premieres include Amir Muhammad and Badrul Hisham Ismail’s VOYAGE TO TERENGGANU (pictured), a travelogue through Malaysia.
US premieres at the festival include Tan Pin Pin’s IN TIME TO COME (pictured), which interrogates a changing Singapore; Ignacio Agüero’s THIS IS THE WAY I LIKE IT II, about Chilean filmmaking during a dictatorship; and José Luis Torres Leiva’s THE WIND KNOWS THAT I’M COMING BACK HOME, which follows a director as he prepares a fiction project about a real-life unexplained disappearance in a remote Chilean archipelago.
