Coming to VOD today, Tuesday, November 10: WESTERN

Bill Ross and Turner Ross’ look at life on the border had its world premiere at Sundance this year, where the brothers won a special award. The doc has also screened at Nantucket, Hot Docs, San Francisco, Full Frame, Sarasota, Dallas, Ashland, Maryland, and Montclair, among others.

Coming to DVD tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10: CAPTIVATED: THE TRIALS OF PAMELA SMART

Jeremiah Zagar’s look back at an infamous televised trial made its debut at Sundance last year. The film also screened at Nantucket, Hot Docs, Sarasota, True/False, and Full Frame, among other events.

Coming to theatres tomorrow, Friday, November 6: SEMBENE!

Samba Gadjigo and Jason Silverman’s portrait of the influential father of African cinema debuted at Sundance at the beginning of the year. It went on to screen at Cannes, Telluride, Sydney, BFI London, Durban, Mill Valley, Zanzibar, and Rio.

Jimmy Chin and E Chai Vasarhelyi’s study in determination premiered at Sundance this year, where it picked up an audience award. It has gone on to screen at Nantucket, True/False, Full Frame, San Francisco, Telluride Mountainfilm, and Nashville, among others. It now comes to VOD via iTunes.

Coming to VOD today, Tuesday, November 3: CAPTIVATED: THE TRIALS OF PAMELA SMART

Jeremiah Zagar’s exploration of an infamous murder trial bowed at Sundance last year. Other festival screenings included Nantucket, Hot Docs, Sarasota, True/False, and Full Frame. The film now comes to VOD exclusively via iTunes before expanding to other digital platforms next week.

Bobcat Goldthwait’s portrait of an unlikely but passionate activist premiered at Sundance earlier this year. It has also screened at IFF Boston, Boulder, Montclair, Milwaukee, and Cleveland, among other fests. The film now comes to VOD via Netflix.

Tony Gerber and Maxim Pozdorovkin’s profile of a Russian arms dealer bowed at Sundance last year. Other festival berths included Nantucket, Hot Docs, True/False, Little Rock, Miami, and BAMcinemaFest. Bond/360 now makes the doc available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video, and Vudu.

Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon’s chronicle of the legendary Buckley/Vidal debates premiered at Sundance this year. Since then, it has screened at Nantucket, BAMcinemaFest, AFI Docs, Outfest, San Francisco, SXSW, Hot Docs, Full Frame, Srasota, Miami, and IFF Boston, among others. The film will screen as part of DOC NYC’s Short List section later this month.

Coming to theatres tomorrow, Friday, October 30: THE ROYAL ROAD

Jenni Olson’s essay on nostalgia and history made its debut at Sundance this year. Other festival screenings have included Ann Arbor, Art of the Real, BAFICI, Nashville, San Francisco, Seattle, Galway, Dokufest Kosovo, Vancouver, and a slew of LGBT events in London, Boston, Torino, Toronto, Vienna, and Los Angeles, among others. I’ll be hosting the Q&A with Jenni for the 5:30pm screening this Sunday at Anthology Film Archives.

Coming to VOD this Friday, October 30: GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF

Alex Gibney’s inquiry into the controversial group made its bow at Sundance this year. It has also screened at True/False, Big Sky, Martha’s Vineyard, Camden, Zurich, Sydney, and New Zealand, and is part of DOC NYC’s Short List next month. It now comes to VOD via FilmRise, and will be available on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, Google Play, Sony PlayStation, and Xbox.
