On DVD: THE CONTRADICTIONS OF FAIR HOPE

The Contradictions Of Fair Hope CastComing to DVD this coming Tuesday, January 14: THE CONTRADICTIONS OF FAIR HOPE

S Epatha Merkerson and Rockell Metcalf’s look at the complex legacy of African American mutual aid associations in the South debuted at the San Diego Black Film Festival in 2012. The doc went on to screen at Chicago’s Black Harvest, Annapolis, BronzeLens, Langston Hughes, Pan African, and the San Francisco, Montreal, Newark, Texas, and American Black Film Festivals, among others.

Patrick Creadon’s inspiring look at the impact design can have on education premiered at Full Frame last year. It went on to screen at DOC NYC, AFI Docs, Newport Beach, Cucalorus, Austin, Heartland, Hot Springs, and the Hamptons, among others.

2014 Cinema Eye Honors Winners

The-Act-of-Killing-Key-Image-280x140The 7th annual Cinema Eye Honors, recognizing achievements in non-fiction film from 2013, took place last night in a ceremony at the Museum of the Moving Image, featuring opening remarks from Michael Moore and appearances by notable filmmakers including Steve James and Chris Hegedus, and 20 FEET FROM STARDOM‘s Lisa Fischer – one of the event’s “Unforgettable” nonfiction film subjects for 2013.
